Dominique Fils-Aimé wins JUNO Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year

Dominique Fils-Aimé’s second solo album “Stay Tuned!” wins the 2020 JUNO Award for ‘Vocal Jazz Album of the Year‘! This was Dominique’s very first JUNO-prize nomination.

Following the cancellation of the JUNO Gala in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan due to Covid-19, the 2020 award winners were revealed in a special, virtual presentation on Monday, June 29. Dominique was due to perform a live show at the Bassment for the JUNOfest Jazz Showcase hosted by Laila Biali. Instead she was invited alongside Kaia Kater, Brett Kissel and Devon Portielje to sing a few of her songs for the 365 Songwriters’ Circle online.

Here’s what Dominique had to say about taking home the trophy:

“Gratitude for the beautiful humans who helped me get here. You make me feel like I am winning at life everyday. Thanks mom and the whole blood and chosen family, I love you 🙂. To my manager Kevin thank you for your kindness, transparency, for getting the best team any artist could dream of. This album wouldn’t be the same without Jacques Roy, thank you for your open mindedness, patience and hard work. I have learned so much from your passion for music. Daniel and Monique from Studio Opus, the most peaceful place on earth. The whole team at Ensoul Records, Six Media, Take Aim and Maison Fauve, you all make me love my job even more (who knew that was possible?!) To the beautiful musicians who accompany me and bring to life the emotions otherwise trapped in my head. Last but not least, thank you to my beloved audience for opening their hearts to my music, allowing me to share my dream of a world united through empathy.
Love always.”
